Tesla Motors joins Open Source movement

On June 12, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors and also known for being the co-founder of PayPal, SpaceX and Solarcity, announced in a statement the elimination of all patents on electric vehicle technology developed by your company.

In the note published on the Tesla Motors blog, Elon Musk comments on how his point of view on patents has changed since the creation of his first company, Zip2, to the present day and how its elimination is a bet to accelerate evolution of sustainable transport and reinforce the position of Tesla Motors as a benchmark company in the sector.

Tesla Motors is an American company based in Silicon Valley that is firmly committed to electric vehicles. With more than 6,000 workers and listed on the NASDAQ, the company became known with the production of the Tesla Roadster model, the first 100% electric sports vehicle followed by the Tesla Model S, a luxury sedan that unapologetically competes with models of high-end of the most popular brands.
