NaN becomes partner of OpenERP |
After a large number of contributions to the OpenERP project, at NaN we've made one more step towards our participation in the project by becoming partners.
Among the contributions already carried on by NaN there're the multiplatform client Koo (previously named KTiny), integration with reporting system Jasper Reports, of which you can find more information in our blog, full text search o the introduction of a new communication protocol that allows using the Koo client over the Internet with a far superior speed that was available until the moment.

PostgreSQL 8.3 has been released. This new version introduces a number of functionalities and big performance improvements. Some of the new additions include full text searching integrated into core, support for SQL/XML standard, enumerated types and arrays of composite types. Performance improvements include an important reduction on data files size, improved performance in UPDATEs and DELETEs (HOT) among others.
At NaN, we are happy to have been able to make a couple of small contributions in this new version, on one side by incorporating the documentation of contrib modules into main PostgreSQL documentation, letting those modules to be known to many users that didn't know of their existance. On the other, starting the development of a small performance improvement when using temporary tables and sorting files.
You can see a list with all changes at 8.3 release notes.

We've recently incorporated new members to KTiny's family. They are called nanos (or NaNos as we'd say in NaN), and they are small applications created using the KTiny framework. They are built to fulfill a very specific functionality. Starting at next KTiny's beta (the second one) you'll be able to test some.
By now, we'll show you a screen shoot with a couple of NaNos, one integrated with the desktop using superkaramba from KDE 4.0 and that shows the number of requests pending to be solved. The other one is a small program to see the list of pending requests. Take a look at them and create your own NaNos! At the hackers mailing list we'll be happy to help you.
Updated! We've added a new screenshot where you can see a NaNo with a NaN style applied. Many times it's not even necessary to modify a NaNo to adapt it to a desired design.
