Debate: Open source software for business

Carles Hilario Sep 25, 2013

Are you thinking of management software for your company or replacing the one you already have? Before making a decision that can cost you a lot of money annually in licenses, find out about free software. There are programs, ERPs, that you don't have to buy or pay to use. It is the so-called "free software" that is already being used by entities as important as Danone, Allianz, Orange, Yamaha, Carrefour or the Col·legi de Periodistes de Catalunya. These companies, and many others, have achieved significant economic savings and other strategic advantages for the development of their business thanks to their commitment to free software.

To explain the advantages of these new tools, NaN tic has organized an informative conference that will take place next Thursday, November 7 at 9:00 in the auditorium of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce (Av. Diagonal 452, Barcelona ). A totally free activity in which different professionals and users of free software for companies will participate, such as Xavier Fuertes, manager of the Col·legi de Periodistes de Catalunya; Carles Garrigues, director of the UOC's Master's Degree in Free Software and the journalist specializing in technology Albert Cuesta, among others. During the session we will also take the opportunity to make a brief presentation of Tryton 3.0, the latest generation free software ERP.

What technological benefits can free software bring to business management? What annual savings can it mean to leave behind the ERPs that charge for user licenses? What companies and entities have already taken the step? What assessment do they make? These and many more questions will be answered at the round table "Free software in business environments"
